Dog X-Ray & Ultrasound

Dog X-ray and Ultrasound

At Crossroads Animal Hospital our veterinary diagnostic imaging involves x-rays and ultrasound. These are non-invasive tests and are completely painless. X-rays and ultrasound may help us find a definitive diagnosis to a problem, and other times to simply add more info to help us put the puzzle together for the best treatment plan for your pet. X-rays and ultrasounds help us diagnose problems we can’t always tell with just a physical exam, a few of these include foreign body, obstructions, and fractures.

What is the difference between X-ray and Ultrasound services at your hospital?

Ultrasound is used to look internally at soft tissues of the body. It helps determine the health of the organs like gallbladder, stomach, and kidneys. Generally, there is no sedation required for this procedure.

X-rays help us to accurately diagnose the state of the skeletal structure and composition, large body cavities and the presence of many foreign objects. Some dogs may benefit from sedation to reduce anxiety and stress.

How much does a dog X-ray exam cost?

We are happy to discuss the costs associated with an x-ray for your dog. Please call our office to speak with one of our friendly pet care specialists. We can answer any questions you may have 403-527-2829.
